Brothers, Steve and Matt Harrop are the people behind Amen Break Wines. With a combined love for music and wine, Amen Break was formed. Celebrating both Kiwi and Aussie wine growing.
Steve lives in the Waitaki Valley in north Otago, NZ, a short, beautiful drive from the vineyards that supply Pinot Noir for Amen Break. He also operates one of the few analogue recording studios in NZ, Sublime Studios.
Matt lives in the Macedon Ranges, north of Melbourne. He grows grapes for his family winery, Silentway Wines, owned by himself and his wife Tamara Grischy.
Together Steve and Matt craft small parcels of fine wine, all made with a healthy dose of soul.

The Amen Break
Originating from a 6-second drum solo in The Winstons' 1969 track "Amen, Brother", the Amen Break is music's most sampled beat. It serves as the rhythmic backbone of thousands of songs across hip-hop, jungle, and drum and bass, including N.W.A's "Straight Outta Compton", The Prodigy's "Firestarter", and David Bowie's "Little Wonder".
The Amen Break shaped the foundation of multiple music genres—most notably acting as the driving force for 90s UK rave and drum and bass tracks.
Matt and Steve's shared love of music is woven into everything they do, so it was only fitting that the Amen Break became the inspiration behind this brand. We hope you enjoy it as much as we've enjoyed bringing it to life.
